and
Conviction
The Langston family which includes, three grown children, Jeff, Leslie, Eddie and maternal grandparents, Thomas and Rita Isaacs is a story that has many twists and turns. Leslie, Andrew and Laura’s middle child and only daughter, has graduated from medical school and with the help of her close friends is planning on opening up a clinic in a not so favorable neighborhood. There is a jogger killer on the loose that targets female joggers with gray eyes which Les happens to have. Although her jogging companion is her strong and powerful pit bull “Kong,” who is always by her side getting his workout also.
Later in the story there is an ethnicity issue that has been kept secret from Jeff, Les and Eddie that divides the family. There are two detectives who are introduced into the story who have their hands full with trying to hunt down the jogger killer and the drugstore thefts that Al and Frank the hoodlums in the story, are committing. Many professions have been incorporated into the story.
Doctors, nurses, publishers, a business administrator, journalists, detectives, a paramedic, a private-eye, lawyers, a college professor and also college students. There are loving romantic relationships that develop throughout that are built on trust and faithfulness. There are also some very serious issues dealing with the pasts of some of the couples. Dr. Leslie and her girlfriends, Brandy, Nazee, Gia, and Yvette are as close as sisters and have a motto, “sisters forever,” which they prove to be true with their feelings for one another. Faith and conviction is a saying that Leslie uses from time to time which builds strength and confidence when dealing with difficult situations.
The conclusion of the book is an edge of your seat, jaw dropper. As he hears a commotion going on, Kong is slowly making his way down the hallway to the lobby of the clinic, the gun of one of the hoodlums looking for drugs, goes off during a function striking one of the main characters. The story did not end with “The End”, but with (To Be Continued).
